SonicWall VPN client and wireless networks

I've had this problem for a while. I have a couple of computers connected on my home wireless network which generally can see each other to share files. But sometimes I'm unable to connect to the other machine. I'd always put this down to some weirdness going on in my wireless network and dealt with it by copying files onto a USB drive. But I finally figured it out today. It would appear if I have the SonicWall VPN client running on one of the machines this causes the wireless network to go funny. Shutting SonicWall down fixes the issue.  No idea if this is a bug or if it is required behaviour but now I know why it happens I don't really care.

SonicWall VPN client for Vista released

My post about the SonicWall Vista client beta is one of the most popular things on here, lord knows why. Anyway, the final version has been released and it is working perfectly for me. I've not had any problems with Vista complaining about two computers with the same IP address being connected to the network. I realise I'm really tempting fate writing that...

SonicWall VPN Client for Vista beta

One of the problems I've had with Vista is the fact the SonicWall VPN Client doesn't work with it and SonicWall haven't released a new version for Vista. Well they've finally got their arse in gear and released a beta version of the VPN client.

Send an email with “subscribe” as the subject of the email to gvc40-join@listserv.sonicwall.com if you’re interested in participating in the beta program.

It kind of works for me, although after a while Vista complains that two PCs are connected to the network with the same IP address. Then everything falls apart. Restarting the VPN client and my wireless connection fixes the problem.

Addendum (28th October) - The SonicWall VPN client for Vista is now out of beta and it is all working fine for me now.
