England suffer completely predictable World cup exit

It came as no great surprise to see England getting knocked out of the World Cup yesterday. As ever, the first time they had to play a decent team, they failed to progress. But what made this worse than previous efforts was that we appeared to have a squad capable of making a real challenge. Unfortunately our manager was clueless and decided to only bring 3 strikers (OK 4 if you count Walcott who Sven was clearly never going to select), 2 of whom were not fully fit. That meant when Owen was injured we were forced to play a formation that clearly didn't work. If we'd been able to play a more attacking formation, we might have got a goal that we could have protected when we went down to ten men. But with two strikers, Rooney would probably not have been so frustrated in the first place and might have been on the pitch for the whole match.

Milton Keynes are relegated

Football isn't generally any kind of morality play, good things don't always happen to good people and vice versa. But it did today. The most disliked team in England were finally relegated to the 2nd division. Why are they disliked? They uprooted the club and moved it across the country to Milton Keynes from South West London. This may be a common occurrence in the US, but franchising of clubs here has never happened here in the past. Why do I care? If they had been successful then they may have been the first of many clubs moving just to get a few more bums on seats and to hell with the club's fans. Not only that, but the club set up by the fans, AFC Wimbledon, is ten minutes down the road from our house. Unfortunately they missed out on promotion this year, but they are still one division closer to their nemesis.

MK Dons are rock bottom of the First Division, 7 points from safety. I'm following their (lack of) progress since AFC Wimbledon are located just round the corner from me and are now in the upper reaches of the Ryman Premier League. I'm guessing it won't be too long before they are in the same league as each other. What I can't understand is how the MK Dons can attract an average 5000 fans for their matches, when

1. They have been consistently crap since they moved to Milton Keynes
2. They are a repellant franchise of a club.
3. There are plenty of real clubs in the area.

Anybody any ideas?
